Bajaj Auto India had been off the radar as far as scooters were concerned, but the company did give us subtle hints about it getting back into the scooter game. However, instead of taking the traditional route, Bajaj Auto India announced its entry into the electric vehicle business with the Chetak electric scooter. In fact, the Chetak will be the first electric two-wheeler to be introduced by a mainstream two-wheeler manufacturer in India, and will be the first product to be introduced under Bajaj Auto's new electric vehicle (EV) vertical, to be called Urbanite. We've already seen the scooter in the flesh but today the most important question of all will be answered and that involves the price and of course when the scooter will be available in the market. We will take you through all the live updates from the launch as it begins.

That's one of the longer warranty tenures in the industry for electric two-wheelers are concerned. There are longer periods on offer though with Revolt Intellicorp offering a warranty period of five years/75,000 km, along with free maintenance benefits up to three years/30,000 km and a battery warranty of up to eight years/1.5 lakh km. The more comparable Ather Energy offers a battery life up to 50,000 km and comes with a three year/unlimited km warranty.
