BS6 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bookings Open Unofficially

Many two-wheeler manufacturers, especially the mass market ones have already started selling BS6 compliant two-wheeler models in India. Now Royal Enfield too seems ready to jump into the BS6 fray and the in all probability, the first model from the company to be BS6 compliant could be the Classic 350, which is one of the highest selling models from Royal Enfield. The motorcycle has been spotted testing numerous times and looks ready to be launched. In fact, several Royal Enfield dealerships have already started taking bookings for the BS6 Royal Enfield Classic 350 for a token amount varying between Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000.

The old 350 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine will still be doing duty on the Classic 350. It is of course fuel injected and could see a marginal drop in power and torque like in other models which saw a change from BS4 to BS6. The BS4 model of the Classic 350 makes 19.8 bhp at 5,250 rpm and has peak torque of 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm.

While earlier spy pictures of the updated RE Classic 350 showed alloy wheels and new decals, the latest images show a Classic 350, retaining the same overall design of the outgoing model, but with electronic fuel injection, new alloy wheels and different colour schemes.

Royal Enfield is reportedly working on a range of more accessible and lightweight bikes, targeted at increasing its customer base to include first-time riders and women, according to a latest media report. The new bikes will weigh significantly less than the current Royal Enfield Bullet, Thunderbird, and Himalayan models, and is slated to be launched in the first quarter of 2020. According to the report, the new bikes have been internally codenamed J1C, and could be marketed under the Royal Enfield Explorer brand.
